Theatre Education Degree

The Department of Theatre serves to prepare students for teaching from Early Childhood to 年级 12. The program provides an opportunity to examine various theories and styles of theatre offering opportunities to experience creatively and critically the artistic skills of the discipline. Students seeking teacher certification in theatre will become familiar with state and national standards for the discipline. The degree includes experiences in stagecraft, 服装设计, 照明, 导演, 管理, 面具及化妆, 场景设计.

Candidates for our Teacher Preparation Programs must meet certain requirements outlined in our Admission 需求 document.

Students who complete this degree will be eligible to take the Texas certification test for the following certification: Theatre EC-12. This certification leads to Theatre teaching positions in Early Childhood thru 12th 年级.

The State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) and Texas Education Agency (TEA) Office of Accountability has awarded Hardin-Simmons University Teacher Education Program a rating of “Accredited” under the Accountability System for Educator Preparation authorized by Texas Education Code 21.045 every year since the rating of teacher preparation entities has been awarded. Educator preparation programs are held accountable for the performance of their graduates on the state credentialing examinations required for certification. Programs must achieve a minimum pass rate on the tests by disaggregated subgroups (All, 男性, 女, 白色, 拉美裔, 非裔美国人, Other) to receive a rating of “Accredited.”
